How WorkRemotely.eu works

Where the jobs come from, how we check who can apply, and what we do with your data.

What is WorkRemotely.eu?

WorkRemotely.eu is a free remote job board for people who live in the EU. It reads the job boards of about 1,200 companies straight from their hiring systems and shows every remote job with the EU countries whose residents can apply. You pick the country you live in and only see jobs open to you.

How does WorkRemotely.eu know which countries can apply?

From the job’s location fields and the posting text. An AI model (Google Gemini) reads each posting in full, and its answer about who can apply only counts if it comes with a word-for-word quote from the posting. The quote is checked against the posting text and shown on the job, so you can see where the answer comes from. When the title names a country, for example “Brand Designer (Spain or Portugal-based role)”, the title wins over the location field.

Can I work remotely for a US company while living in the EU?

Only if the company can hire people in your country: through its own company there, through an employer of record, or as a contractor. Most remote jobs can’t: about two thirds of the remote jobs WorkRemotely.eu tracks hire only outside the EU. Pick your country on WorkRemotely.eu and the list only shows jobs that can hire someone living there.

What do “EU-wide”, “Worldwide” and the country flags on a job mean?

EU-wide means people living anywhere in the EU can apply. Worldwide means anyone can apply, wherever they live. “Europe, Middle East, Africa” means the employer hires across that region. Country flags mean the job is open to people living in those countries only, for example “Germany +4” for Germany and four more.

How up to date are the jobs?

Every company’s job board is read about twice a day, and a job that disappears from it disappears from WorkRemotely.eu. Apply checks that the posting is still online before it opens the employer’s page. When someone reports a job as closed or wrong, that company’s board is read again within about an hour.

Which jobs are left out?

Jobs that only hire outside the EU, and work that isn’t really remote: trades, drivers, shop work and ship crews. Staffing agencies and AI data-labelling gigs are left out too. Roles posted once per country or per city are merged into one job open to all those countries.

Is WorkRemotely.eu free? Do I need an account?

It’s free and needs no account. You can get new jobs for any search by email, every morning or once a week on Mondays. Signing up takes one email address, which you confirm once, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.

Does WorkRemotely.eu track me?

No cookies and no ad trackers. Visitor numbers come from Umami, which counts visits without cookies or personal data. Company logos and fonts are served from WorkRemotely.eu itself rather than from other companies’ servers, and the job emails have no tracking pixels.

How does a company get its jobs listed?

Listing is free and needs no posting form. WorkRemotely.eu reads remote jobs from Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Personio, Recruitee, Breezy HR, SmartRecruiters and Teamtailor. Companies can send the link to their careers page to hello@workremotely.eu. Apply always opens the company’s own job page: WorkRemotely.eu never collects applications.

Where do the numbers about the remote job market come from?

From the same jobs as the job board. The insights page shows them every day: how many remote jobs are open to people in each EU country, which skills are asked for, how many jobs state their pay, and how companies employ people. Tracking started in October 2026.

Who runs WorkRemotely.eu?

Ole Harland, an independent product designer in Hamburg, Germany. WorkRemotely.eu is a private project. It is not affiliated with the European Union or its institutions.
